Turning Schematics Into Images

One problem with exporting images from programs like Xfig, is that the graphics files are usually not vector-based. This causes problems with viewing when you export to a JPEG of GIF format. What I do is turn up the value in the magnification in xfig:



This is what a closeup of the image looks like in The Gimp:



To get a scaled down schematic, I first convert the image to RGB (Image->Mode->RGB), and then I scale it:
